Looking for a unique volunteering role, working alongside police intelligence? No two days will be the same!

We are now recruiting for volunteers for our successful STRIVE project.

What's STRIVE?

STRIVE is an Award-Winning Greater Manchester initiative led by the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner. It operates across the boroughs by various organisations and is a multi-agency response to improve the support given to families who have been visited by the police due to a low level domestic incident where no crime has been logged. .

The Role:

We are currently looking for volunteers to support our already-existing teams or new emerging STRIVE Boroughs by conducting research on local community groups and services to go in the next edition of our sign-posting book.

Our sign-posting book is integral to our service and is used by STRIVE volunteers to connect the people they visit to local services, groups and organisations that may be able to help them. These can be things such as; counselling charities, religious groups, social networking groups, debt-support agencies and many more!

You will be given one Borough of Greater Manchester to focus on and anything that we can direct people to, that will help them – goes in the sign-posting booklet!

You will be supported by a Volunteer Coordinator and given a brief induction to the project, the local area and the best format to present the research.

Why volunteer on the STRIVE project?

  • You would like a casual, flexible volunteer role

  • You would like to gain experience in this field for work or studies

  • You would like to make a difference

  • You have the time to spare

This role may suit those who have an interest in: Administration, Police, domestic abuse prevention, social work, criminology, psychology, forensics, anthropology, sociology, human behaviour, counselling or even those wanting to return to the workplace.

Former volunteers have gone on to have a range of careers including but not limited to; the police, clerical, domestic abuse and teaching.

Role Requirements:

  • Commit to 1-2 days research at home, once every 3 months
  • Access to your own laptop/computer

Apply:

We have an incredibly diverse and vibrant team and welcome people from all walks of life with varying experience to apply. Each application is considered on an individual basis.
