Friday night saw over 400 people sit down for a 3 course meal in The Principal, to honour the third annual North West Charity Awards.

Our Greater Manchester charity, TLC: Talk, Listen, Change was among many other winners of the evening’s awards.

This event was created 3 years ago to support North West charities and provide the recognition they deserve for their community work.

Celebrating on the evening were; Michelle Hill (CEO), Barbara Shuttleworth (Trustee) and Lucy Sandilands (Design and Marketing Assistant)…. and we ended up with lots to celebrate, coming away with a winning award for ‘Best Trustee’.

We’re so happy that Barbara Shuttleworth, a long standing, dedicated Trustee of TLC:Talk, Listen,Change was awarded ‘Best Trustee’ at this years awards.

Barbara has been a part of TLC for over 17 years, prior to our disaffiliation from Relate. It was this commitment which deserved significant recognition. Her nomination detailed:

It would be difficult to define what she has done for the Charity without writing a book! Suffice it to say she has become the backbone of the trustee support, always giving more than the minimum required whilst offering support to all of the staff. – Malcolm, former Trustee and Chair of the Trustee Board

Due to Barbara’s nature, she is not one to sing her own praises – so the board, CEO and team at TLC: Talk, Listen, Change wanted to do this for her!

Barbara has showed unwavering dedication to the charity, being a stable force behind the ups and downs. We believe this should be recognised and believe that simply because some staff and trustees of charities work quietly behind the scenes, this does not mean they should not be acknowledged. Her commitment and impact is powerful and provides a strong base for us to grow and enables us to support more people with life-changing work across Greater Manchester – we do not underestimate this.

We would like to take the opportunity to thank Barbara for her dedication and support of the charity and can’t think of a better way than to put her forward to be recognised and celebrated as a Trustee, we couldn’t have done this without her.

I find Barbara’s support invaluable. She is always there on the end of the phone or sat by her desk when I need her. I feel like I never have to bear the financial burden of running a charity all by myself. Her support is unwavering. I really couldn’t do my job without her. – Michelle Hill CEO

Our team here at TLC: Talk, Listen, Change could not be prouder of the award received, and we know Barbara is too! A huge well done to all the other nominated and award winning charities on the evening. Lots of our friends, supporters and partners also received the recognition they deserve… Well done all!

We’d like to thank North West Charity Awards team (Cheryl, Ilona, Phoebe) for an incredible night and to the Judges for recognising the amazing efforts of all charity professionals there that evening.

“It was a great night, and something not to be missed. There was a great atmosphere all night, where charities were incredibly supportive of each other and recognised the importance of this evening and of each individual award given. The food and entertainment also added to the evening- thank you to all involved for creating a memorable night.” – Lucy Sandilands – Design and Marketing Assistant
