TLC has proudly merged with seven other relationships charities.

We’re working together to make relationship support accessible to everyone in the country.

TLC: Talk, Listen, Change began over 40 years ago as a branch of a larger charity. In April 2017, we broke off and became the national provider of innovative relationship support we are today.

It’s not been an easy path, but it’s one we’ve been determined to tread, because we believe in the power of relationships and the importance of reliable relationship support.

Relationships exist to help us meet needs that we can’t meet alone, and when times get tough, it’s better to tackle problems together. We’ve always remained generous about collaboration and we are more than willing to extend arms of support to those who equally believe in the power of relationships.

We took the decision to merge with seven other charities because we recognised the pillars of support they provided within their communities. Those charities were Let’s Talk Relationships (formerly Relate Bradford and Leeds), The Relationship Therapy Centre (formerly Relate Severn and Wye), The Family and Relationship Centre (formerly Relate London North East and Essex), Space Counselling (formerly Relate Chesterfield and North Derbyshire), Relationship Counselling East Anglia (formerly Relate Cambridgeshire), Relationship Works (formerly Relate Avon) and Relationship Therapy North (formerly Relate Cross Pennine),

All will now operate as part of TLC, except for Relationship Works, which will sit under the TLC Group as a subsidiary that provides paid-for relationship counselling services.

We wanted these charities to secure a safe and stable future but we would not collaborate if our mission, vision, and values did not also align. All the charities have been dedicated to providing a safe, authentic, and person-centred model of service delivery for clients and working environment for staff.

We know that by working together, we can provide a more robust and accessible network of relationship support across the country. We’re excited to continue bringing more avenues of support to more new places so that everyone has a shoulder to lean on.

Welcoming new faces

TLC is growing and expanding to help even more people build and maintain safe, healthy, happy relationships.
