Tackling The Root Cause of Domestic Violence

We were involved in the creation of 'Her Majesty The Queen: Behind Closed Doors', a powerful documentary that sheds light

In December 2024, we contributed to the creation of ‘Her Majesty The Queen: Behind Closed Doors’ ITV documentary.

We’re thrilled to have been involved in the creation of ‘Her Majesty The Queen: Behind Closed Doors‘, a powerful documentary that sheds light on the pervasive issue of domestic abuse and its profound impact on its victims.

Domestic abuse cases are up nearly 20% since 2019 across the UK. The solution? Addressing the root cause.

As a community, it’s imperative that we  lean on every resource, utilise every approach and make sure that we do everything we possibly can to prevent domestic abuse, including understanding the importance of working with the perpetrators as well as supporting the victims / survivors.

For us at TLC this means doing what we can to hold those who harm to account, and that’s what our behaviour change programmes are all about.

We need to identify why the abuse is occurring, and work with the perpetrators to prevent them from continuing the cycle of abuse - rather than just coming in at the end to deal with the aftermath
- CEO Michelle Hill

Prevention is better than cure, and our goal is to stop domestic abuse cycles at their source.

Perpetrator intervention programmes have been proven to work.

Home Office statistics show an 80% reduction in domestic abuse incidents for those in our programmes, compared to 30% for those who weren’t.

  • 80% decrease in abuse incidents for programme participants
  • 79% reduction in domestic abuse crimes
  • 78% reported less emotional abuse
The fight against domestic abuse is quite literally a matter of life and death.
- CEO Michelle Hill
