TLC delivers healthy relationships workshops with Crucial Crew

The classes taught year 6 students what healthy relationships look like.

In July and November, TLC was involved in a safety education programme for primary school children.

As part of the programme, TLC taught year 6 students in 31 primary schools about healthy relationships.

Crucial Crew is a national initiative by Child Safety Media that bring together education centres, transport and energy companies, local police, and charities to provide a holistic education on life skills for primary school students. We were delighted to be a part of the programme for North Manchester this year in July and November.

Each Crucial Crew session comprised several 15-20 minute interactive workshops from different organisations designed to enrich students’ understanding of how to stay safe under various circumstances. TLC liaised with Child Safety Media to organise and plan the workshops.

The activity TLC delivered was a “red flag, green flag” game in which children discussed behaviours and feelings that might arise in relationships, like jealousy, anger, happiness, hugging, and gift-giving.

Other activities included themes such as fire safety, road safety, internet safety, and how to make emergency calls.

"We’re really proud to have taken part in the North Manchester Crucial Crew. Our interactive session on healthy relationships encouraged children to reflect on behaviours, feelings, and real-life scenarios. Together, we explored what relationships are, how they make us feel, and how to spot the signs of respect, trust, and care. We looked at motivations, scenarios and experiences and, as ever, the children offered all sorts of different ways of thinking to make us analyse, laugh, and reflect.
