What happens at Mediation?

Wondering what to expect from mediation? Read on for the mediation process and other key info.

The mediation process

Step 1
Get in touch for information

We can answer any questions you might have about family mediation so you can decide if it’s right for you.

Call: 0161 872 1100

Email: [email protected]

Step 2
Attend a mediation information assessment meeting (MIAM)

This is an opportunity to discuss your situation with a mediator and decide on the next steps for you and your family.

Step 3
Attend joint mediation sessions

Most people attend two to four sessions. Between sessions you may want to consider options, trial arrangements, and get legal advice.

Step 4
Confirm arrangements

Your mediator will summarise any proposals that you’ve put forward and intend to fulfil.
