Successful Birthday Ball 2019 raises over £10,000

As you may know from our recent News article and social media activity, we hosted our second Birthday Ball fundraising event at Castlefield Rooms on 10th May. We’re happy to announce this event raised an incredible *drumroll*… £10,184.30!
The event saw over 100 people from across Greater Manchester gather to celebrate another successful year of TLC: Talk, Listen, Change and learn more about our continuously expanding services.
The event began at 7pm as guests were welcomed with a glass of prosecco to the sound of local folk band Stringbox, who’s ensemble includes one of our very own team members – George!

Our host Russ Morris then welcomed everyone and introduced the first game of the evening (we love our games!) and guests were invited to all stand, listen to potential number one hits and decide – was it “number 1, or summat else?”

This was followed by Anita Shepherd, Head of Family Law at Shoosmiths Manchester and TLC: Talk, Listen, Change Trustee standing to speak about her dedication to the charity, the growing partnership between ourselves and Shoosmiths and thank everyone for attending. It was emotional to say the least!

A big thanks to Anita for her continued support of our work and helping us make these events what they are.
Between a lovely 3-course meal (who doesn’t love a good pie? None of that tiny portion stuff at our events!), more games were played, prizes were given away and our CEO, Michelle Hill gave a passionate speech about the work we’re doing and everything we’ve achieved over the past year.

This was accompanied by video created, specifically for the event, which detailed the new projects we’ve launched and provided guests with an insight into the reality of the life-changing work we do every day with people from all demographics, across a range of boroughs in Greater Manchester.

The night was completed with more games, a raffle, a live auction & we were sung into the night by local artist, Lauren Lovelle. Congrats to the lucky winners of our auction prizes including a signed Manchester United Football and a luxury Manchester City Weekend!

Overall, it was a great event, filled with friends, family and supporters of our charity. We felt lucky to have so many people, passionate about the work we do, attend, raise awareness and celebrate with us.
Our CEO, Michelle Hill, says;
“I wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who supported TLC: Talk, Listen, Change with our 2nd birthday ball – firstly to Shoosmiths for their sponsorship, to the Santander Manchester Piccadilly branch for doubling the donations we received on the night and for volunteering on the evening itself, for all the companies who donated prizes and goodie bag treats, to all the people who came to celebrate with us and to the fantastic team working behind the scenes to make it happen
It was a truly wonderful night and the amount raised will make such a difference in providing support for safe, healthy and happy relationships across Greater Manchester.
We can’t wait for next year’s event now and hope you will be able to join us in celebrating then too.”
