The difference that Gift Aid can make and why it matters more than you think.
Over the past year, our incredible fundraisers have gone above and beyond – scaling the Yorkshire Three Peaks, conquering Snowdon, braving TLC’s Sky Dive, baking up a storm, and giving generously through monthly donations.
Every step taken, every cake sold, and every pound donated has helped raise awareness of TLC’s vital services and provided essential support to people facing abuse, crisis and relationship breakdown.
We’re extremely grateful to these amazing individuals and to their families and friends who sponsored, cheered, and encouraged them every step of the way.
But there’s another hero we’d like to thank:
It may seem tiny, but when it’s ticked, it creates a big impact:
A £10 donation becomes £12.50
A £100 donation becomes £125
Every donation gets a 25% boost – at no extra cost to you!
A tick that helps us do big things – thanks to you.
Gift Aid is a UK government scheme that allows charities like TLC to claim an extra 25p for every £1 you donate without costing you a penny more.
In May, 20 supporters took on the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge to raise valuable funds for TLC. Together they raised an incredible £8, 472. And thanks to one small tick – Gift Aid – that total increased to £10,290.50.
One tremendous physical challenge and one small tick combined to create an amount of money that will make a huge impact.
Because it helps us do more. Much more. With Gift Aid, your donation helps TLC:
One Small Tick. One Big Ripple Effect. When you tick the Gift Aid box, you’re not just donating – you’re amplifying your impact. You’re helping us stretch every pound further and reach more people with life-changing support.
If you are a Higher Rate taxpayer, there is more good news when you tick the Gift Aid box. Not only does your donation get a 25% boost thanks to Gift Aid, but you can also claim back the difference between the basic rate of tax (20%) and the higher rate (40%).
If you are unsure how to claim, you can easily do this through your Self Assessment tax return or by contacting HMRC.
